L'Oreal Holiday cocktail party 2011 LEWOW

A couple of weeks ago I was invited to the L'Oreal holiday party of 2011, were I was able to play with the new products and shades that are coming out for spring of 2012; the location was fabulous! and there were 5 stations in the room showcasing the new products and some of the new shades of existing products from L'Oreal, some of them are already in stores and some of them hit the shelfs sometime in January.

The stations were decorated accordingly, it just looked so into the holiday mood! look at those cute boxes with makeup all over!! I want that under my tree!!

Now on to the products. The oh so well known Colour Riche Lipstick is coming out with tons of new shades! it contains Argan Oil and Omega 3 for full-colour-never-dried-lips.

L'Oreal Paris is launching the new Colour Riche Anti-Feathering Lip liner with Omega 3, natural oils and vitamins A & E

Another new product to add to the Colour Riche family is the Colour Riche Nail Colour which features Diamond Reflexion Complex for 10 times more shine and claims to have 10 days of staying power, L'Oreal is launching 27 shades of this product! I decided to play with the sample products on the table and painted each of my nails a different colour, I just did a very quick coat of polish and the light in the place was very dimmed so bare with me, you can see how opaque these polishes are with just one thin coat.

There are 7 new shades of the La Couleur Infallible Eye Shadows 3 are metallic gold shades and 4 of them are matte, I also swatched these for you, let me tell you that the black one is very very black! I never had the chance to play with these shadows, but they have a very interesting formula, kind of a mix between cream and powder and they are also the #1 selling eye shadow in Canada.

Something that really caught my eye was the Voluminous Smoldering eye liner, it is the first Kajal eye liner in the mass market and it is very pigmented and goes on very smoothly!! In that same station I found the Voluminous False Fiber Lash with sculpting fibers that mimic the shape of lashes giving you length and volume!

At the hair station I learnt about the new members of the L'Oreal Hair Expertise family, the Hair Expertise Volume Collagen Hair Care; a Shampoo, Conditioner and Body Boost Root Lifting Spray to give you lots and lots of volume! the whole line smells delish! There is also a new member to the Elnett hairsprays line; the Elnett Volume Hair Spray. It seems like the new year it's all about big big hair!

As a new part of the Youth Code family, L'Oreal added the Youth Code Dark Spot Correcting and Iluminating skin care which consists of a Serum Corrector and a SPF 30 Day Cream. They also added a Foaming Cleanser. And for the more mature skins The New Age Perfect Hydra-Nutrition Daily Serum.

On the last station I saw a Visible Lift Concealer, Visible Lift Age-Reversing Powder, some Magic Smooth Souffle Blushes that feel super smooth and blend beautifully on the skin and a Magic Lumi Light Infusing Primer and a Concealer for luminous, glowing skin.

Oh! and let's not forget the Colour Riche Le Balm with SPF 15 a super moisturizing lip balm with just a touch of colour, it contains Argan Oil, Shea Butter, Vitamin E and Muscat Rose Oil.

Marcelle CLIMATIK lipbalm with SPF 30

The Marcelle CLIMATIK outdoor lipbalm with SPF 30 is part of the CLIMATIK line, which was created specially for the Canadian climate. Formulated thinking about people who like to practice activities outdoor either during summer or winter.

This lip balm looks white but it goes on colourless and leaves a nice and settled sheen to the lips, it does not have a scent to it and it has SPF of 30 which I love!. It features rather a unique packaging with no removable lid, it has a button that you pull down on the side of the tube and the product comes up as the tube opens in the middle; it takes a while to get used to it since I am so used to traditional kind of packaging but it's always cool to try new things.

I had the chance to try this lip balm last spring here in Canada and it moisturized my lips very well, no complains at all, I normally apply lip balm 3 or 4 times a day as I feel my lips need it.

I went to Mexico during the summer for a couple of months and since this baby has SPF 30 I decided to bring it with me to keep my lips protected, while in Mexico I stayed in my home city which is kind of (very) warm, but I also went to the beach (where the heat was even worse) and this lip balm kept my lips drying; however, I have to say, that I felt like in hotter climates I had to apply it much more often to avoid my lips from chapping. I also noticed that the balm started to dry out on the top, I guess it was to harsh of a climate change for it, it was not a big deal since I just cut the top off it and kept using it as normal.

Now that I'm spending this (very mild still) winter back in Canada, I can see that again, I just need to apply my lip balm 3 to 4 times a day just as I used to, so I guess that maybe Mexico was to hot for the CLIMATIK lip balm, which is ok, but I really wished it would work in Mexico because of the SPF!! I have also notices that the bar is starting to dry out again, so I guess it might be because of the packaging, maybe it doesn't close tight enough.

Over all I like the balm itself and love the fact that has SPT 30; but I think the packaging is just not as nice as it seemed at first, while it looks innovating, it allows the product to dry and even some little lint particles can manage to get into the tube and stick to the bar

If you are into protecting your skin from sun damage I recommend you give it a try, you can find it at your local drugstore.

My lip colour of the season - Revlon Colorburst in True Red

Disclaimer: The lip colours that I feature here, may or may not be considered "in style" for the current season; however I believe that, for makeup, one can wear whatever one feels comfortable with at any time, that's why this post is called "My lip colour of the season".

A while ago I got some of the Revlon Colorburst lipsticks and showed the swatches (if you want to read my blogpost about the haul, click here), I even wrote a review on one of them but it was only in Spanish (sorry! my bad), anyways, today I wanna talk to you about the shade 090 True Red.

True Red is kind of like a lighter red cherry, maybe more orange-y red than an actual cherry red but I can still see a bit of blue in it, so it's not totally an orange red. I have to say it, I am really bad at describing shades of red, it's like I can tell the difference when I see variations of red but I can't quite express it in words so bare with me, lol. If you know me, then you know I don't really wear red lipstick unless I have an special event of some sort AND I'm in the mood for it, hence I don't own many shades of red lipstick, but I was quite impressed when I got this one, I just think it looks very pretty against my olive medium skin.

As for the formulation of the Colorburst lipsticks I can say that they go on pretty smoothly and pigmented and they are also moisturizing, however, they are not long lasting, not on me at least, when I first got them, I could smell a weird scent on them but not anymore, so no scent on these babies.

Kit esencial de brochas sinteticas de Sigma

Ya tiene un buen rato que Sigma saco su kit de kabukis o brochas para la cara de su linea SigMAX en la que introducen la "nueva" tecnología de filamentos sintéticos diseñados para la aplicación de productos en polvo y crema sin absorción de producto en las brochas. Se supone que te ayudan a lograr una aplicación de maquillaje en HD o alta definición y que la forma, densidad y altura de los filamentos fueron especialmente diseñados para ayudar a difuminar el producto en el rostro.

La colección comenzó con el tan afamado Kabuki de cabeza plana F80 al que pronto se le unieron el Kabuki de cabeza redonda F82 y el de cabeza angulada F84, hace no mucho también le agregaron el Kabuki de cabeza de punta F86 completando así la colección de 4 brochas que venden por $56 dólares. (Da click aquí para ver el kit) La verdad yo nunca me anime a comprar estas brochas, a pesar de que me encantan las brochas de Sigma en si.

En este mes de Noviembre, Sigma agrego a su colección el Kit de precisión de brochas sintéticas con 4 brochas mas para el rostro y los ojos que simplemente emulan una versión pequeña (o bebe) de las 4 ya existentes, entonces constan de una brocha de Precisión de cabeza plana P80, una de cabeza redonda P82, una de cabeza angulada P84 y una de cabeza puntiaguda P86. Todas estas brochas también usan los filamentos Sigmax al igual que el kit para la cara. Este kit cuesta $49 dólares.(Da click aquí para ver este kit)

Este mes decidí complacerme finalmente y como mi regalo cumpleaños me compre el kit completo de las 8 brochas para consentirme, digo se vale o que no? (Mi cumple es el 24 de Noviembre). Annabelle and Marcelle Beauty Premiere

Last week I attended the Annabelle and Marcelle Beauty Premiere in Toronto, where Marcelle Group showcased their new products to be launched in late January/ early February 2012; it was a great evening and I got to see many familiar faces and many not so familiar faces, if you want to know who I hung out with click here.

The location was great! the rooftop of Thompson Hotel in downtown Toronto, so as I walked into the room, and checked in, I got my personalized badge and then started to mingle, in the first part of the room I saw only Annabelle products. The Glitterama glitter eyeliner in shades that I haven't seen before (I'm digging the red, lavender and teal shades) and the Smudge Paints where there too, of course I couldn't avoid playing with them ;)

The new addition to the line is the Annabelle BIGSHOW lipgloss which comes in a round glass tube, very elegant I have to say, and the new formula makes this babies super super shiny!! they kind of reminded me of the MAC Dazzleglasses without the heavy super sticky feeling, but I still haven't tried them so I can't tell for sure.

There was an area where you could get your own personalized BIGSHOW lipgloss, so you would choose the shades you wanted to mix in and then ta-daaa your custom shade lipgloss, I think that was such a cool idea! everyone was talking about it all night! Way to win our hearts Annabelle!!

While we were hanging out and sipping in our drinks I see this big part of the crowd approach this one girl in the middle of the room, I was curious enough to go take a look and what did I find? A tray of makeup for us to help ourselves!! Yeah you read it right! there were girls walking around with trays of makeup it was just too much fun!

The next product I saw was this new gel makeup remover from Marcelle called RENFORCILS with eyelash fortifying complex which, I was told, works in both the follicle and the lash. I'm very excited to try it when it comes out!

Marcelle is also coming out with a new skincare line called GENE YOUTH, it consists of a day cream, night cream and eye contour cream that help prevent the signs of aging, I tried all 3 creams on my hand and oh my! what a lovely feeling, I fell in love with how velvety the eye contour cream feels! (I believe the creams are going to retail for about $22 CAD each)

The Marcelle Xtension Plus Mascara was another one of the new products from the line, which I got in my goody bag and can't wait to try, this is a lengthening mascara with a small plastic brush, I kind of like small brushes because it is way easier to reach the corners without smudging, but that's just me :P

And finally the star of the night, the new Marcelle BB cream, so I heard that some members of Marcelle Group, went to asia to learn about this new kind of creams that are the new big hit in the beauty industry and are slowly coming to this side of the globe. The Marcelle BB cream can be used as a daily moisturizer, helps even out the skin tone and cover some imperfections, it can replace your moisturizer, primer, tinted moisturizer and even foundation; it will come in 2 shades: light and medium (I believe) but it also has self-shade-adjusting particles which will make sure that the cream blends perfectly into your skin. I had the chance to try it out on the back of my hand and the texture is heaven! To my surprise it also covered my veins pretty well and blendend seamlessly into my skin. (I believe this product will retail for about $28 CAD)

Annabelle and Marcelle Beauty Premiere- Social

As many of you might know, after reading all those tweets, this past wednesday I attended the Annabelle and Marcelle Beauty Premiere in Toronto which was basically a social event with drinks, food and lots and lots of bloggers from the GTA where Marcelle Group showcased the new products that are coming up for 2012. Since a more detailed description of the event and the products is in a different post (click here to read), I'm just gonna jump right on to things!.

I loved seeing my dearest TBB (Toronto Beauty Bloggers) friends! and of course meeting new people. Now I have to admit, I'm socially awkward and extremely shy!! so I normally walk around a room full of people, just by myself until I see a familiar face; or sometimes I just stand in a corner looking away, yeah! I know it's sad but I'm just that shy! and I was always the tomboy-ish girl who never really had girlfriends and always hung out with guys, so please!! If you ever see me out there being quiet and with a serious face on, just talk to me!! it's not that I'm mad or anything, it's just that I'm a shy gal. With that being said, I was lucky enough to see familiar faces almost as I walked into the room.

Of course, the lovely Isabelle (@Mtl_MissIPP) from Marcelle Group greeted me and I also saw @eeenricaaa, @01b0o, @rubanxrose who were waiting in line to make their custom shade Big Show lipgloss, courtesy of @AnnabelleTweets.

I had the chance to chat with a few other familiar TBB girls like @TheGlitterGeek, @FacesByFarah, @anjali_handa, @watercoloursky, @ettuandyou and @JennMUA; and of course my bff's @leloartistry and @makemeoverande.

And in the new additions to my friends list, 3 amazing girls who I follow on twitter and youtube but never had the chance to meet in person: @fionaman, @makeupbytess and @DonnaMarieMUA.

I also caught this girls enjoying the treats from the sweet table, smile! :)

The experience was amazing! I feel like I got inspired again to open my makeup drawer and play with my stuff, write posts for the blog and even go on twitter more often again, it just made me realize how much I miss being a part of it all. In case I didn't mention it yet, the location was beautiful! the rooftop of Thompson Hotel in downtown Toronto, we had an amazing view all night I just loved it!

Did you know that one of every 3 cancers diagnosed is skin cancer?

Did you know that 80% of all skin cancers are caused by over exposure to the sun or sun beds?

Well, I didn't.

I started wearing SPF as part of my daily routine about a year and a half ago, mostly because I was concerned about aging; and I saw the difference in my skin right away, the tone of my skin kind of evened out and the texture was better, I haven't peeled in a while and it just looks nicer overall. However the benefits of using SPF don't stop there, the most important one and maybe the one we don't really think about is that it helps prevent damage to the skin that could lead to skin cancer.

Save Face is CoverFX's first annual campaign for sun safety awareness. For the month of June, Cover FX will support skin cancer research foundations in Canada, US and UK by donating proceeds from the sale of BritePrep FX (SPF 50) and SkinTint FX (SPF 30) and $0.25 for every new Facebook fan gained during the month June.

I have tried the Skin Tint FX and was really impressed by it, read everything about it here.

And even though I haven't tried the BritePrep FX its description on their website sounds amazing! read it here.

So if you were thinking about getting a new primer or tinted moisturizer with SPF for the summer, here is an amazing opportunity to help cancer research while doing so, and believe me, it always feels so much better you go shopping while knowing that you're helping somehow ;)

Miley Cyrus look

A while ago I got a request to make a look inspired in Miley Cyrus, to be more specific, on this picture:

and so I think I did a pretty good job, I had to layer on different colours to get similar shades to what she's wearing but thats what makeup is all about right? just playing, mixing and having fun, I hope you like the look and here is the tutorial in English ;)

Haul: mac quite cute collection

Last thursday, I decided to go to the mac pro store in downtown Toronto to take a look at the new collection (to be launched April 7th 2011) because if you didn't know, the limited edition collections come out one week early at the pro stores ; anyways I decided to go because a week before that I saw this girl from the pro store wearing a very pretty lilac nail polish and she said it was from the up coming collection; I sure fell in love with it and didn't want to miss on it.

The collection (mostly) features pastel girly shades; the eye shadows were too sheer and the blushes just didn't do it for me, I'm still on a lip gloss ban and I had already set my mind to get 2 lip sticks and 1 nail polish and that was it; I actually stuck to it (so proud of myself, lol), this is what I got:

Nail polish in Little Girl Type it's a very light cool lilac colour, with a creamy finis; just too pretty to pass on it; I heard some people think it is similar to lilacism by Essie which I don't own but I looked at swatches online and Little Girl Type looks lighter. I am not a big fan of MAC's nail polishes formula and this is not the exception; it was a total pain to apply and get it to look even; I did 3 coats on all my nails and 4 on some of them, the nail polish was just too streaky and watery but I still love the colour.

Lipstick in Candy Yum Yum. Matte finish. I think it's the more wanted item in this collection, it's got all the attention on youtube and blogs and I really like it!! it's such a bright neon pink colour, no need to layer on to get it to be bright but you can still sheer it out by using a lip brush

Lipstick in Play Time. Cremesheen finish. It's a very pretty violet shade, kind of sheer but pigmented enough to show on the lips, it can also be layered on with a lip brush to go for a more pigmented lip.

While I was at the store I saw this other nail polish called Mischievous Mint, it was really pretty! I was told that it's lighter than Peppermint Patty (Hello Kitty Collection) and I actually wanted to get it but they were already sold out of it!!! in the very first day! I still applied 2 coats of it just to compare it to China Glaze For Audrey which I own and to show you the difference. For Audrey is darker and bluer, they both look very nice!! I heard there's one shade from Essie that's similar to Mischievous Mint, so I might have to check it out ;)

Since the Collection is being released tomorrow (Canada and US), what are you planning on getting?? or will you just pass on this collection?

Annabelle pro A8 brush

I used to be the kind of gal who liked using bigger brushes that cover almost the whole eye lid for the sake of doing my makeup faster, but there are some looks that just require smaller brushes and I've come to love this specific one for most of the detailing in my makeup looks, the best mini shader brush I've tried so far, the Annabelle pro A8 brush.

Its soft and short bristles make it perfect for packing on color and also for blending in small areas. It is a flat brush with a round (or dome) end. It is the perfect size for applying eye shadow to the inner corner of the eye & highlighting under the brow; its softness makes blending very easy, I love using it to blend out the shadow on the lower lashline because it gives a very soft finish to the look without really making any effort.

The Annabelle pro A8 brush is made of Pony hair firmly glued to black, both, handle and ferrule; it feels very light but strong at the same time; this brush has been my favourite lil' brush since I got it in my TBBM swag bag (Spanish), over a year ago.

Step into spring TBB meet up 2011

Ok so I've been procrastinating for a few hours now but it's time to blog about this amazing event!!

I'm pretty sure most of you already know about the TBB community (Toronto Beauty Bloggers) that started a lil' over a year ago and keeps growing and growing. Every now and then the amazing founder of this group Farah, organizes a meet up, some times it is for brunch or drinks and some other times it's a much bigger event when she gets cosmetic companies and some other Canadian companies to sponsor by donating products and making the whole experience much more fun; even some companies send their PR people which makes it even better!! So we have swag bags, raffles and lots and lots of makeup, hair and general chatting (for me tho, I'm very shy so I never really get to talk to every single girl in the room, but I keep trying :P)

This time the location was a great salon / spa called Loki Salon, and let me tell you it was amazing!! Too bad for me I left my camera at home because I was rushing out of the house to meet up with Jenn at Bay station :( so I really didn't get any pictures of the event but it was super fun!! Thanks Farah for organizing such amazing event as usual :)

I was very happy to see familiar faces like Jenn Aqui, Jenn (spiced beauty), Ande (Make me over Ande), Anjali (Rock that Look), Davida (Davida Gragor), Rica (icyswirls), Naomi (styleyes), Arianne (GlitterGeek), Meredith (et tu and you), Jill (JilloJello) and of course Farah (Faces by Farah) and I was also very happy to come out of my shell (even if it was a little bit) and get to know new people like Joyce (Sparkly playground) finally got to meet Lena (Listen to Lena), Amelia (In the Pink of things), Michelle (Ruban x Rose) and Sarah (Allure Makeup Artistry)

There's this Mexican Singer whose videos are kind of weird to most people's eyes but for me the makeup in there is just amazing!! first of all, she's very pretty and she's got gorgeous green eyes and an amazing makeup artist I bet because her makeup always looks flawless and versatile, is like she can wear a very neutral look and then a super bold look next minute! and I love that; her name is Belinda and this time I fell in love with an specific look in her latest music video: Dopamina

Resena Revlon Color Burst Coral

Hace tiempo ya que compre estos labiales, cuando recien habian llegado a Canada y estaban en su mayor apogeo en EU, en aquel entonces; yo los compre porque queria ampliar mis opciones de colores en mi kit profesional, pero tambien porque no queria dejar pasar la oportunidad de probar los biles que tenian hablando a todo el mundo.

Todos los ColorBurst de Revlon en presentacion barra de labios vienen en un empaque que tiene la apariencia de ser como de aquellas marcas que venden en las tiendas departamentales, el patron biselado en el empaque es parecido a alguno de la marca Chanel, sin embargo es muy ligero y al tacto se siente delgado y de regular a poca calidad. En la parte superior de la tapa trae la muestra del color correspondiente, en la parte inferior, trae la etiqueta que describe el nombre, codigo numerico y marca.

ColorBurst en Coral es un naranja encendido con tintes rojizos; cuando es aplicado no es tan opaco como parece, pero 2 capas dan un muy buen color, o una sola capa es suficiente para un acabado mas natural. Al aplicarlo directo del tubo se obtiene mayor opacidad a diferencia del uso de un pincel.

La formula es un tanto cremosa y bastante humectante, por lo que se aplica muy facilmente, sin embrago, su duracion es muy limitada (por lo menos en mi) se desvanece casi por completo con unos 3 o 4 tragos de agua. No contiene aroma artificial por lo cual tiene un olor raro y molesto (en mi opinion) que se desvanece en un par de minutos.

En general el Revlon ColorBurst se me hace un producto bueno para el precio que pague por el, el color Coral en particular, es exactamente eso, un tono naranja/coral, sin brillos, muy basico y facil de conseguir en cualquier otra marca de labiales; no hubo nada que me impresionara a sobremanera y la unica descepcion fue el olor, pero lo importante es el producto en si, y por ese lado no me quejo.

Resena rapida: Lip Butter de KORRES en el sabor Guava

El lip butter de Korres es por mucho mi balsamo labial favorito, es super cremoso e hidratante y sin embargo no deja sensación grasosa en los labios; huele delicioso y es incoloro, lo que lo hace perfecto para ser usado debajo de cualquier bile o gloss que querramos, de hecho yo saque un poco de este producto y lo puse en un tarro pequeño el cual uso para mi kit profesional.

Sus ingredientes humectantes son Shea butter y cera de arroz. Tambien es libre de aceites minerales, siliconas, Propylene Glycol y Ethanolamine (tipos de alcohol).

Yo me he vuelto fan de los productos Korres desde que compre este balsamo, especialmente porque usan muchos ingredientes naturales en su linea y dejan de fuera varios productos que son muy sintéticos. Yo recomende este producto a una amiga que padecia de labios muy partidos, al punto del sangrado, y su condición mejoro bastante en una sola semana.

En lo personal me gusta usarlo por las noches y me encanta como se sienten de suaves mis labios cuando me despierto por las mañanas.

Si le he de encontrar un defecto a este producto es el hecho de que no tiene factor de protección solar SPF lo que me impide usarlo durante los dias del verano, especialmente porque me he vuelto casi adicta a usar productos con protección solar.

Yo recomiendo poner una pequeña porción del producto en un tarro pequeño para evitar que se contamine todo el producto con el uso diario.

Lo volveria a comprar?... SI

Quick Review: KORRES Lip Butter in Guava

The Korres Guava Lip Butter is hands down the best lip balm I have ever used, it is very creamy and moisturizing, however it doesn't leave a greasy feeling on the lips, it smells delicious and is colourless which makes it perfect to wear under any lipgloss or lipstick, I actually scooped some off of it and put it in a small jar to carry it in my kit for when I do makeup on others.

Its moisturizing ingredients are Shea butter and rice wax. It is Mineral Oil, Silicone, Propylene Glycol and Ethanolamine Free.

I've been a fan of Korres products ever since I tried this lip balm, specially because their line has a lot of natural ingredients and leaves out all the bad stuff; I recommended this product to a friend who used to have very chapped lips (to the point they would bleed) and so she picked it up at Sephora and her problem drastically improved within 1 week and nowadays I don't see any chapping on her lips.

I like to use it specially at night and I LOVE how my lips are still very soft when I wake up in the morning.

If there's a downside for this product it would have to be the fact that it doesn't have SPF which makes it hard for me to wear it during summer days (just because I've become obsessed with SPF).

I do recommend taking a small portion of this lip butter and putting it into a sample jar just so that it doesn't get contaminated with bacteria because of the daily use.

Would I repurchase this product?... YES

Would I recommend this product?... YES

Holiday looks recap!

In case you're not familiar with my Youtube channel yet, I just wanted to let you all know that this past week I've been uploading tutorials for holiday looks, everything from wearable to bold for everybody, with the glitter and all that!! here is a recap of the ones that are already up, just in case you still need some ideas for your makeup during the holidays :)

Here is the "very wearable" smokey brown eye look with gold glitter liner, it can be worn pretty much for any occasion day or night.

Mi primer look Arabe

Los looks arabes siempre han sido algo que he admirado mucho y respetado mucho mas (en este caso respeto=miedo jeje) la razon? bueno mas que nada el delineado tan perfecto que generalmente vemos en este tipo de looks; ya tenia un rato que nadie me hacia una solicitud en el look que querian que hiciera, pero una leal suscriptora de mi canal de Youtube me pidio que le hiciera algun look Arabe, a lo que finalmente me di una oportunidad y el resultado me encanto!, el delineado que elegi fue uno de los mas "sencillos" que pude ver en tutoriales y fotos y que aun asi fue un buen reto, pero creo que me salio bien y subi el tutorial hace algunas semanas; aqui les dejo unas fotos y el video por si se lo perdieron :)

MAC Venomous Villains Collection: Haul

Well, since YouTube wouldn't let me upload a video since last friday I kind of got frustrated with my Internet connection, I did everything, I logged out of my Google accounts, turned off my computer for 2 days, turned off the modem, tried with different videos, changed the size of the videos, tried to upload directly from imovie and even changed the password of my wireless network (thinking that somebody could be stealing my signal) finally ended up connecting my computer directly to the modem and still YouTube would not upload my videos. It is very frustrating for an IT person to not be able to fix what seems to be a very simple problem, but after trying all I tried (even when I know some of those things don't make a difference) I honestly felt like I didn't want to go on Internet for a while, and obviously since I didn't want to interrupt the upload I couldn't do anything else online, for the whole weekend.

By now I kind of gave up on YouTube and that's why I'm here, with a small and overdue haul from the MAC-Disney collection. I know lots of people were very excited about this collection and some others didn't care at all, I was in between; and knowing that IMATS was coming soon I kind of banned myself from cosmetics purchases(to save money) so for this collection I went for stuff that's different to what I already had and also stuff that I would really use; I'm a sucker for packaging but not even that made me buy more than I really "needed".

I just got 3 products and can't complain about the packaging either, I love how much detail is put into some collections, like this one, even the boxes have the drawings of the villains on them.

Some people didn't like the packaging of the product itself but I honestly didn't have a problem with it, it's plain black with a glossy finish to it and every product has the faces of the villains on, it's not a sticker which is good.

I went for this super-pigmented red lipglass because I don't have a gloss like this, it is so pigmented that I can actually use it on its own.

I also got this red-ish eye shadow which kind of reminds me of cranberry but I thought it was unlike anything I have in my collection.

Finally this mineral eyeshadow that I had fallen in love with since I saw it in a Temptalia's video on Youtube it looks super pretty over a dark colour base, I love the glitter it has and they way it makes my eyes pop.

IMATS Toronto 2010 HAUL!! :)

Here is my haul from IMATS, I decided that I was going to get stuff for my kit but also stuff that would keep it small, I'm new at this whole makeup artist thing and I love it! but now I realize that having a compact kit makes a big difference specially because I don't drive, so carrying my kit in 2 bags is not easy, lol. A couple of days before IMATS I made a list of stuff I wanted and pretty much stuck to it, I also visited the websites of the vendors that were attending the show so that I could have a closer idea of what to expect and where to look for the stuff I wanted. So in my original list I included a mixing palette and spatulas, empty eye shadow and lipstick palettes, brushes, brush roll/apron; kryolan or ben nye aqua colour palette or MUFE flash colour palette, blusher palette, lip palette, cream foundation palette and an eye shadow palette with neutral colours (here I wanted to check the yabi one) I also included as extras some glitter or glitter eye liners, maybe some MUFE shadows and maybe some OCC liptars.

After searching around and checking prices and also kind of being influenced by other beauty bloggers I ended up buying this (I did pretty good actually)

I loved the ben nye booth but they weren't selling anything and the retailers that carried ben nye at the show didn't have the best deals so I went for kryolan instead

I got a lip palette, this stuff is very pigmented I swatched a couple of the shades on the back of my hand, then wiped it and didn't completely come off, walked around and washed my hands a couple of times and I could still see the lipstick on my hand. It is the Kryolan's Lip Rouge 18 colors palette

After checking prices between the kryolan aqua colour palettes, MUFE flash colour palette and this baby I decided to get it! it is the Shimmering Vision Interferenz Palette. It features 18 shades of cream colour bases, they are all very pigmented and there are a couple of metallic colours as well.

I originally wanted the ben nye foundation palettes but given the price and colour variety this palette had I decided to get it, I also swatched some of it on the back of my hand and it felt really nice and lasted all day even after washing my hands a few times. It is the Kryolan Ultrafoundation palette.

I got some Zpalettes at 2 different booths, all of them in zebra print, I also got some clear vinyl bags to pack stuff for traveling or for my kit. Also got the spatulas and stainless steal mixing palettes at the Naimie's booth, (I kind of whish I had seen the Nigel booth earlier because they had some cute mixing palettes too). I also got some clear containers with individual compartments at the Naimies booth ($4/ea, a steal!) which I plan on using to depot the lipsticks I normally carry in my kit.

I decided to get the 10 blush palette and the 88 warm palette at the Crown Brush booth since they were very affordable.

I got some Crown brushes and other brushes at a more cheaper booth as well as a brush roll since I already had the ELF apron I got at winners for $5 :D

As for the glitter/ glitter liner I ended up getting a set from Eye Kandy that comes with 6 glitters a brush and Liquid Sugar to apply the lose glitter as a liner, I figured it'd come in handy if I wanted to use it with the other glitters I already have.

Towards the end of the day I finally gave in and went to the OCC booth (I had been avoiding it all day) and decided to get some liptars. Memento, Vapid, Hoochie and Divine

That was all I got, I think I did pretty well, since I didn't spend all my budget and I know it might look like a lot but it was my first time and I needed the stuff for my kit (great excuse, lol) we also have to consider that on top of the discounts there was no tax which was great!! Somehow I managed to pull myself away from the MUFE booth and skipped the NYX booth, I also walked away from the Naked Cosmetics booth without buying anything, I was keeping in mind that the packaging of their products were not small-kit-friendly :P one of my biggest regrets of the day is probably the fact that I didn't get the yabi palette I wanted, but I guess there will be another show next year right :)

IMATS Toronto 2010

The International Makeup-Artist Trade Show (IMATS) came to Toronto this weekend and I was lucky enough to have the chance to go for the first time. So I got there at around 8:30 am, just the time the show was supposed to start, the line wasn't so big and was moving kind of fast which was nice.

There were lots of vendors, some beauty schools and classes, I went of course for the vendors, because there were so many brands and products that are kind of hard to find in Canada, or you can only buy them online from the States (and pay lots for shipping). I was also interested in a couple of classes, and as a Youtuber, I was super excited for the class Kandee Jhonson was giving.

I did a lot of shopping, since I got there early I went around and compared prices and all that, I had a list of stuff I wanted to get for my kit and I was very strict about it, lol, so I finish most the shopping kind of early and focused on looking for familiar faces :) I didn't really take those many pictures and I saw some TBB girls here and there during the day but I did miss a lot of them :(

Yes it's sad summer is almost gone but if you want to capture the beauty of the tanned skin for a longer time, you might want to try the Radiant Fx Luminescent mineral powder.

I got this powder a while ago at the first TBBM as a prize :D and I've been using this product for a while now, I really like the glow it gives to my skin when I wear it, and how people always wonder if I've been tanning or something, lol.

Radiant Fx in Golden Bronze, gives me the perfect summer glow, it's not too shimmery, it's not too orange-y it's just perfect. I like to use it as a bronzer all over the face (after setting the foundation) and I also like to use it to set my foundation, I find it works good with the MAC face & body foundation, and when I don't feel like wearing foundation I like to use it all over just to even out and brighten my complexion. It can also be used on chest and shoulders for a radiant summery look.

I find it easy to blend over powder but when used to set liquid foundation it can be a bit hard to blend, I normally apply it little by little with a big powder brush and then buff it into the skin with a kabuki brush.

Radiant Fx by Cover Fx is good for all skin types, and it's also suitable for sensitive skin since it is oil, fragrance and talc free; there are 2 shades available: Platinum (lighter shade) and Golden Bronze.

Ya me llego mi pedido de Sugarpill!!

Hace ya un tiempo que esta marca de maquillaje salió al mercado, y desde que la vi en el canal de petrilude queria poner mis manos en sus productos, las sombras de ojos de sugarpill se supone son comparables en tamaño, pigmentación y calidad a las de Make Up For Ever (o por lo menos eso dicen). Como no podia ver el producto en persona, siempre estuve dudosa de comprar o no (solo se puede comprar en linea) y a decir verdad comprar en linea me da flojera, ademas de que el pago de envio a veces me da miedo jajaja, aparte de pagar el producto hay que pagar el envio y a veces los impuestos de aduana.

Sugarpill is here! Haul and quick overview

It's been a while since this makeup line (sugarpill) came out, and ever since I saw it in petrilude's youtube channel I wanted to get my hands on it!! I knew that the size, pigmentation and quality of the pressed eye shadows compared to Make Up For Ever's eye shadows (or so petrilude said) and the price of sugarpill was almost half as much so it sounded like a great deal, but since I couldn't really see the product in person I was always hesitant, besides, I'm kind of lazy when it comes to shopping online AND shipping is always (kind of) scary to me, because you have to pay the product, the shipping and sometimes the customes fees :(

Finally after a looonnnggg time staring at the (sugarpill) website for days and days I decided to get myself some eyeshadows I wanted (colours I kind of skipped from the MUFE line) and I totally decided to take advantage of their free shipping with orders over $75, but I must admit I was kind of hesitant because I didn´t wanna pay customes fees, so I said to myself "wathever! I WANT them!" (LOL). Here is what I ordered:

It took little less than 2 weeks to get to me which is good! and everything got here in perfect conditions, I love the personalized package with the logo and sticker, so cute! and as a plus I didn't have to pay custome fees :D oh and by the way I also got the sugarpill glitter sticker for free.

The packaging is super cute, and has such great quality I think I'm gonna keep the boxes, lol I haven't used the products yet but they do swatch very pigmented, so I'm very excited to use them.

I enjoyed so much talking with the girls, this time I sat in the same table with some familiar faces like So Very Fabulous, Spiced Beauty and Make Me Over Services, I love these girls.

I got the chance to talk a little bit with a watercolour sky (and silently admired her nails, lol) and met 2 new people to me: icyswirls and xinarox, such nice girls!!

I kind of always get attracted to beauty products with some kind of pattern design on it, like a blush or beauty powder from mac or befenit, but when I look at the price tag the enchantment goes away, this time it was different because thanks to Miss IPP from Groupe Marcelle, I found the powder that looks pretty on me and in my blush drawer AND doesn't hurt my wallet, the Annabelle Zebra Bronzing Powder.

Creando consciencia en nuestra comunidad

Ya tiene un par de meses que sigo una pagina Mexicana en Facebook que trata sobre el maltrato animal en todos los ambitos "Justicia para Callejerito", esta mayormente conformada por personas normales que aman a los animales como tu y yo, en esta pagina siempre nos mantienen informados de los cambios que se han logrado para favorecer los derechos de los animales, planes de marchas y protestas, adopciones de animales callejeros y demas cosas para ayudar a eliminar el maltrato animal. Diran que soy payasa pero en cuanto a animales se refiere, yo tengo corazon de pollo y siempre que veo o me entero de algo triste que le haya pasado a un animal poniendolo en sufrimiento lloro y lloro mucho de coraje y rabia e impotencia por no haber podido hacer nada :'(

Una de las entradas mas recientes en la pagina de facebook habla del maltrato animal en los circos, donde los animales son golpeados a mas no poder con tal de que aprendan a brincar o hacer monerias para entretenernos, desde el simple hecho de vivir en jaulas fuera de su habitat natural hasta negarles el alimento o agua "si no se portaron bien" o incluso golpearlos porque no se dejan banar? enserio? y nosotros el publico pagamos por eso?

Quiza nosotros no estemos golpeando al animal directamente, pero piensenlo bien, estamos pagando para que unos desgraciados desalmados, golpeen a un pobre animal que ha sido retirado de su familia y hogar, mantenido en oscuridad en una jaula pequena condenado a vivir en miedo por el resto de sus dias hasta que ya no aguante mas y muera, diganme, si estamos pagando por eso, no somos culpables tambien?

No es justo que esto siga pasando y como ya se me llenaron los ojos de lagrimas una y otra vez, aqui les dejo una copia del correo que inicie y envie a todos mis contactos con la esperanza de que sea reenviado y creemos consciencia en las personas a nuestro alrededor, NO VAYAN al circo, ese es el mensaje:

Hola amigos y familiares, este es un correo real que acabo de comenzar y aun cuando nunca me han gustado las cadenas, les invito a que lo reenvien, como muchos saben, yo amo a los animales y no tolero por nada del mundo el maltrato animal, sin embargo el maltrato animal puede ser desconocido (o ignorado) en muchisimos ambitos y situaciones comunes (e incluso festivas), desde las corridas de toros, peleas de gallos, etc. hasta las visitas a los CIRCOS! si los circos!! esos en los que nos divertiamos cuando eramos ninos y a los que muchos de nosotros quiza considerabamos llevar a nuestros primos o familiares mas pequenos... les dejo con el link a este video en Youtube que muestra solo UN POCO de lo mucho que sufren estos animales a nuestra costa (y que nosotros pagamos por ver)

NTM Studios Runway Model Challenge

I've worked with Lelo and NTM Studios for a few times now which allows me to build my portofolio and gain more experience while having fun doing what I love: Makeup! I had never felt the real rush before, having to do makeup for many girls one after the other and seeing them being photographed by professionals and all that stuff that at the end of the day make you exausted but leave you wanting more, I love it!

This time NTM Studios and Lelo gave me the opportunity to work with them in their Runway Modell Challenge Fasion Show featuring Canadian designers Lindsey Winter and Ryan Joelson this past friday along some wonderful artists: Make me over Ande, Romantic Impressions and Davida Gragor.

Las fotos que acaban de ver son de un desfile de modas al que fui invitada para trabajar como maquillista en conjunto con otras talentosas artistas del maquillaje de la ciudad donde vivo, es un evento que organiza NTM Studios como promoción entre modelos para el estudio. La Maquillista líder (de cabezera) del estudio (Lelo) me ha invitado unas cuantas veces a trabajar con ellos maquillando modelos para diferentes eventos, lo cual me permite ganar mas experiencia y formar mi portafolio con fotos profesionales de mi trabajo, es super emocionante y al final del dia termino cansada pero con muchas ganas de volverlo a hacer, obvio despues de trabajar nos fuimos a ver el desfile de modas y aproveche para tomar fotos para compartir con ustedes, espero las hayan disfrutado ;) besos

Revlon Color Burst en Espanol, mis compras

Hace un par de semanas una de las farmacias lideres a nivel nacional en Canada, puso en oferta la mayoria de sus productos labiales (glosses y biles o barras de labios) en un 50% de descuento; yo la verdad que habia procurado no gastar ni siquiera ir a ver que tenian porque sabia que gastaria bastante si lo hacia jajaja pero despues de toda la platica acerca de estos "famosisimos" labiales de Revlon en twitter y blogger y que recien habian llegado a Canada pues no me pude resistir, despues de todo estaban a mitad de precio jajaja.

Los Revlon Color Burst son labiales (supuestamente) de alta pigmentacion y durabilidad sin sentirse pesados en los labios; el empaque esta super chulo, es como una mezcla de NARS y channel y se ven super lindos, o por lo menos a mi me encantan, tienen el color en la tapa para poder distinguirlos, eso esta muy bien a mi parecer, asi no tengo que abrir cada uno para saber cual es el que quiero usar y tambien "REVLON" marcado en relieve en la barra que los hace ver super elegantes (Channel hace lo mismo).

Termine comprando 6 aunque a decir verdad, yo queria mas jajaja, en general los compre para probarlos y usarlos en mi kit para cuando hago maquillaje en otras personas, asi que decidi comprar colores "basicos" y variados para casi cualquier color de piel.

De la pigmentacion no me quejo, de hecho estan super pigmentados y es cierto, no se sienten pesados en los labios, por su misma pigmentacion, no necesitas aplicar muchas capas para obtener el color deseado y eso es bueno; en cuanto a la durabilidad, bueno pues duran como cualquier otro bile, no son matte, sino mas bien cremosos por lo que no resecan los labios lo que esta genial.

En general como cualquier labial, al aplicarlo directo del tubo/barra son muy pigmentados, mientras que al aplicarlo con un pincel, son menos pigmentados. Los colores se muestran verdaderos en la piel a como se ven en la barra e incluso en la tapa.

Si tienen la oportunidad de conseguirlos, los recomiendo ampliamente, aunque tambien recomiendo los compren en oferta porque su precio normal se me hace algo caro para ser una marca de "farmacia o supermercado". (entre 10 y 11 dolares)

Annabelle Mineral Powder blush: HUSH

I've never been that much into blush, and that's probably because I already have a natural rose-y tint on my cheeks and I'm not a big fan of very red cheeks, however, very once in a while a nice shade of blush can catch my eye so much that I want to wear it every day for a week or so. To be honest, when I got Hush in the mail and looked at the color, I didn't feel it was "that" blush, so I left it in the "to be tested" drawer for a few days until I finally was on the mood for some pink cheeks and gave it a shout.

Annabelle Mineral Powder Blush in HUSH is a light pink blush (not so light to be considered baby pink) in a loose powder form, it comes in a 2.5g jar with a sifter, it also has some gold shimmer to it, the powder is so fine that blending is effortless and it's not shiny or glittery so it doesn't make my pores look bigger and I love that. I think Hush is the perfect shade for those medium skin toned girls that are just looking for a very natural rosy cheek, but you can also layer it over a cream blush for a brighter pink that can be worn at night. The staying power is very impressive for a mineral product. So after trying it under different lighting and with different looks I decided that Hush is definitively a shade of blush that I could wear every summer day.

Time for the blues / Hora de los azules

Maybe because I haven't been to the beach or swimming in so long that now every time I think of summer I just think of water hehe, and when I think of water I think of the color blue; well when I saw this baby on the nail polish shelf at Sally Beauty Supply I couldn't resist, I'm talking about China Glaze Blue Sparrow. It is a very vibrant blue (it's actually a neon) with micro colour particles that you can actually see and I wouldn't consider them glitter since they don't really shine that much, they just add a lot of dimension to it.

The application was a bit difficult because a couple of layers still looked streak-y and uneven, so I had to apply 3 to 4 thin layers of Blue Sparrow to get it opaque enough for me to like it, but other than that it is a beautiful color.

Quiza porque ya tiene mucho tiempo que no voy a nadar o a la playa pero cada vez que pienso en verano, pienso en agua jeje y cuando pienso en agua me imagino el color azul; bueno cuando vi esta lindura en el aparador de barnices de unas en Sally Beauty Supply, no me pude resistir, estoy hablando de BlueSparrow de China Glaze. Es un azul muy vibrante (considerado en su linea de neon) con micro particular de color que de hecho se pueden ver claramente, pero que yo no consideraria glitter (diamantina o purpurina) porque no brillan tanto, solo le agregan un toque como multidimensional.

La aplicacion fue un poco dificil porque aun despues de aplicar 2 capas, el color se veia disparejo y se alcanzaban a ver los brochazos del pincel, asi que tuve que aplicar unas 3 o 4 capas delgadas para lograr un color opaco y parejo, pero aparte de eso, el color me encanto!

Revlon Color Burst lipsticks Haul

So after almost a week of reading on twitter about these lipsticks with the great formula and pigmentation, and the high-end looking package and bla bla bla I couldn't resist and I thought that I had to go check them out; and since I had also read that Rexall (Canadian Drugstore) was having a 50% off of lip products for the week I thought it was a great oportunity to try out new products (less money = smaller dissapointment, lol).

So finally thanks to LipstickRules, TheGlitterGeek, rasilla and SparkledBeauty I decided to head to my closest rexall and look for the new-in-Canada Revlon Color Burst Lip Sticks [and for all of you who might want to know where I found all the shades, I actually went to the Rexall on Bloor and Dundas west in Toronto but just so you know I also saw some of the shades at the Shoppers Drugmart on Keele and St Clair Ave. West (there's no discount and they are 1 or 2 dollars more expensive than at Rexall)]. So anyways, since they were just a bit over $5 each, I decided to pick up 6 shades (I was originally gonna get 8, lol) and I mostly got shades that I know I'm gonna use a lot either on myself or in my kit.

This is not a review on the formula or the staying power or anything, it's mostly a haul and some swatches for those of you who might be interested on getting some since the 50% off sale ends tomorrow, friday 18th. and just so you know the swatches are just one swipe directly from the tube so I have to say that they look pretty pigmented.

verde veraniego / summery greens

Otro de mis colores favoritos para este verano es este verde de China Glaze, me encanta que es oscuro pero no tan oscuro y que tiene bastante brillo! se llama Watermelon Rind.

En un verde bosque con micro brillos en verde y plata y me encanta el contraste que hace en mi tono de piel, unas 2 capas me dieron una cobertura aceptable mientras que la tercera capa le dio el acabado perfecto; su aplicacion fue sencilla, nada de lineas marcadas ni mucho menos.

Another (nail polish) favorite of mine for the summer is this green one by China Glaze, I love that it's dark but not too dark and I also love that has a lot of shimmer to it! this is Watermelon Rind.

It's a medium forest green with micro glitter in green and silver tones, I love how it compliments my skin tone. While 2 layers of it gave me a decent coverage, a 3rd one gave me the finish I wanted it, the application was very easy, not streaky at all.

Annabelle Volume Lip- plumping lipgloss

I don't even know how to start this review, I guess I should mention that I had never tried a plumping lipgloss before, for 2 reasons: 1 I thought I had pretty full lips and didn't need a plumping gloss, and 2 I was always afraid of the feeling that everybody says plumping glosses give (painful), so yeah I never gave myself the chance to try a plumping gloss.

When the lovely Mtl_MissIPP (Isabel) from Annabelle Cosmetics sent me a couple of their new volume lip plumping lip glosses I thought I was in trouble!, then when I read all the info about them I calmed down :P (actually I was in the car when I opened the package and after reading about the painless plumping glosses I rapidly removed the lipstick I had on and put Cherryoke on, lol)

I'm gonna start with the packaging. I love the tube!, it is very unique, or at least I don't have anything like it in my collection; I think one of the reasons why I really like it is because it reminds me of chemistry, you know those thingies that you mix the liquids in (I don't know the name in English, lol); anyways, I like the tube also because is very thin and that just means that I can fit more stuff in my makeup bag, but it's also big enough so that it doesn't get lost in between my stuff. I like that the applicator comes in a doe foot shape with a little hole in the middle from where the gloss comes out, since the gloss is always coming out and never going back in the tube (unlike regular glosses with brush applicator) there's less chance that bacteria will go into the tube. The cap is clear and has a stopper just so that the gloss doesn't get all over the cap.

The formula is totally pain free and I love it, it's not sticky or glittery, it's not too thick nor too runny and it's actually pretty moisturizing, the actual gloss is sheer even when it looks pretty opaque in the tube, but it also allows you to layer it on without looking bad or anything.

In my package I got Sweet tweet and Cherryoke

-Sweet Tweet is a light pink with almost like a pearl-y finish to it, so it has a lot of frost and it's very sheer at least on me, I didn't find it very flattering (on myself) on it's own but I loved the effect I got when I mixed it with Cherryoke, I'm pretty sure that girls with lighter complexion would pull it off better than me, hehe.

-Cherryoke, it's a scary-looking-in-the-tube red color with almost no shimmer to it which I love, it is more opaque than Sweet Tweet but it's not opaque enough to give you a very bold lip, which makes it perfect for every day wear with one or 2 layers, but you can always add a 3rd layer for an evening look, this gloss became my go-to lip product for a couple of weeks.

So the only con that I found about it is that the tube is a little hard, so getting the gloss out might need a bit of extra strength; however, I was told that Annabelle Cosmetics is already changing the packaging to correct that; and well, I'd also like to see the name of the color on the tube (just saying :P)

What can I say? Annabelle never stops surprising me and if it hadn't been for Mtl_MissIPP I wouldn't have tried these glosses, now I know that Plumping doesn't necessarily mean Painful

Since I haven't been blogging for a while, and I wasn't feeling like writing a lot tonight I decided that I wanted to share with you bigger pictures of the eye look that I'm wearin in my profile picture. If you follow me on twitter and blogger and you're also subscribed to me in YouTube, you probably already noticed that I have the same icon for all my accounts, just so that nobody gets confused hehe, I recently wanted to change my picture but I wanted something stronger and better than the last one I had, and since I had been playing with my makeup and practicing the cut crease looks; I decided to use this one look with the orange and hot pink; I totally followed Queenof Blending's tutorial and it came out pretty decent, don't you think?

For the pink eyeliner the only one I had is one from NYX that totally SUCKS!! I bought it and hated it but decided to give it another chance and I totally regret it because it almost ruined the look, I had to go over it with a couple of other products for it to look kind of decent, but other than that, I really liked the look :)

Como ya tiene bastante que no escribo, y hoy no me sentia con ganas de escribir demasiado; decidí compartir con ustedes fotos de mejor calidad del look que tengo en la foto de mi perfil. Si me sigues en twitter, blogger y también estas suscrito a mi canal de YouTube, te habrás dado cuenta que tengo la misma foto en todas mis cuentas; esto es para evitar confusiones jeje. Recientemente yo queria cambiar mi foto pero queria algo más fuerte y mejor que la foto anterior y como habia estado jugando con mi maquillaje y practicando el look de pliegue cortado (cut crease), decidí usar esta foto con tonos de naranja y rosa; para lograr el look seguí un tutorial de QueenofBlending y me salió bien, creo yo jeje, tu que piensas?

Para el delineado rosa, use el unico que tenia que es uno de NYX y este APESTA!!! lo compré y no me gustó pero decidí darle otro chance y me arrepiento porque casi arruina el look, tuve que aplicar otros productos encima para mejorarlo un poco, pero aparte de eso, el look me gustó bastante :)

Simply Divas is a fundraising event presente by The Family Association for Mental Health Everywhere (F.A.M.E) that showcases students from the Etobicoke School of Arts performing tributes to divas of our times such as Beyonce, Sarah McLachlan and more.

The event is going to be held on Sunday, June 6 2010 from 1pm to 5pm at the Berkeley Church (315 Queen St. East, Toronto)

There will be cocktails, canapes, a silent auction and swag bags for all those free-stuff lovers like myself, and for what I heard there are gonna be some big important (cosmetic) companies donating the stuff for the swag bags so that's a big plus!

And all of it for the very reasonable price of $35 per ticket, so if you think about it everybody wins, you are donating to F.A.M.E. and then you will be able to enjoy a nice show and go back home with a bunch of stuff :)

The Family Association for Mental Health Everywhere (F.A.M.E.) offers support to families where any mental illness is an issue by providing education, resources and coping strategies, all around the GTA.

Skintint FX by Cover FX a must have for summer

Since the heat is here and it almost feel like summer I thought it'd be apropiate to talk about this product that I'm loving and (even when you can use it any time of the year) I think it's a must have for summer, wanna know which product I'm talking about?

Skintint FX by Cover FX is a moisturizer with natural minerals that provide some colour to even out the skin tone and help you achive that sunkissed look, so yeah it's a tinted moisturizer pretty much, with a spf of 30 which is amazing for the sunny days of summer.

The coverage (I would say) is from light to medium, so it's pretty good for a tinted moisturizer, it is very moisturizing and for me (I have normal to oily skin) I normally don't need to wear a moisturizer under my Skintint FX but maybe if you have very dry skin, wearing a moisturizer underneath it would be better. It also kind of has a very light dewy look to it.

It can be used on all skin types and there's a wide variety of shades.

It comes in a bottle with a pump and so far I haven't had any issues with it, but I always shake it before using it.

There are a lot of good ingredients in it such as vitamine A, C and E, chamomile and some other stuff I don't have idea what they are, lol; but if you want to learn more about this product just click here to go to Cover FX's website.

MAC TO THE BEACH- swatches / muestras de color

Como lo prometí en mi otro post, aqui les traigo las muestras de color de (algunos) de los productos que compré de la nueva colección de MAC, To The Beach, como saben no compré todo y tampoco hice muestas de color de los glosses para evita la contaminación, ya que los quiero guardar hasta que me termine algunos de los que ya tengo abiertos :)

As I promissed in my last post, here are the swatches of (some of) the products that I bought from the newest MAC collection; To The Beach, as you know I didn't buy everything, and I didn't make swatches of the lipglosses because I don't want to open them until I finish some other ones I have already opened :P

Temperature Rising lip pencil, Thrills lipstick, Funbathing lipstick

Eye shadows: Sand & Sun, Firecracker, Sweet and Punchy

Hipness powder blush, Weekend Cream bronzer

And finally when I got home and looked at my collection I found an extremely close dupe for Sweet and Punchy eye shadow, it's Rated R from the Love that look collection they are pretty similar, if something I would say Rated R is a bit more yellow-ish and (surprisingly) Sweet and Punchy is a bit more pigmented than Rated R.

A final de cuentas, cuando llegué a mi casa y vi mi colección, me dí cuenta que tenia un duplicado perfecto para la sombra Sweet and Punchy, se llama Rated R y salió con la colección Love that Look, son demasiado similares y por si alguna diferencia, Rated R es un poco más amarillo, y sorpresivamente Sweet and Punchy es un poquitin mas pigmentado que Rated R.

MAC TO THE BEACH- the haul / Las compras

The fun part of going to mac is being able to buy what you want, and actually finding what you want, and this time, I made sure I was able to buy it, and MAC made sure that I wouldn't get dissapointed.

Lo divertido de ir a MAC es ser capaz de comprar lo que quieras, y de hecho encontrar lo que buscas; y esta vez me aseguré de poner mi parte, y MAC se aseguró de no decepcionarme.

Me encantó toda la colección, el empaque estuvo mucho mejor que el de la coleccion Give Me Liberty of London, los colores muy divertidos, brillantes y vestibles; fue la mezcla perfecta, ay colores para todos gustos.

I loved everything about this collection, the packaging is way better than the Give Me Liberty of London Collection, and the colours are very fun and bright and also wearable, it's just like a good mix of everything, there were colours for everyone and anyone in this collection.

So by reading temptalia's post on this collection, I made my list based on a budget (that I had been saving for a few of weeks) and actually loved what I got, I didn't feel the urge to get anything else whatsoever, so that's good.

Al leer el blog de temptalia sobre esta colección, hice una lista basada en cierta cantidad de dinero que me fije para gastar (y que ahorre por semanas jeje) y de hecho me encantó lo que compré, no sentí la urgencia de comprar más, así que eso es siempre bueno. Así que las dejo con más fotos de lo que compré.

También me dieron un collar de conchitas gratis muy veraniego y lindo. Aun cuando decidí que quería comprar aunque sea uno de cada producto (ya saben, por lo del empaque) terminé saltando los polvos bronceadores porque son parte de la colección permanente de MAC, los delineadores de ojos, bueno aun me cuesta trabajo gastar mas de 10 dolares en un lapiz delineador que aparte de todo se transfiere al parpado inferior (lo lei en temptalia),así que no compre delineadores en lapiz.

I also got a free necklace that looks very summery and cute. Even when I decided I wanted at least one product of everything (you know the packaging factor) I ended up skipping the (powder) bronzers, since they are part of the permanent line, and the eye liners, well, I find that I still have a hard time spending over 10 dollars in a pencil liner specially when I can find dupes for the colours and since I read in temptalia that the liners smudge, I just decided to skip them.

Las Lustre drops, bueno nunca me han encantado y son algo pequeñas para el precio, el aceite bronceador, como todas saben tengo piel Latina y me es muy facil broncearme, así que no necesito ese tipo de cosas; en cuanto a los barnices de uñas, bueno el naranja estaba bonito pero no soy muy fan de los barnices de MAC y especialmente por el precio jeje.

The lustre drops, well, they've never done wonders for me and I mean they are kind of small for the price; the bronzing oil; well, as many of you know I'm Mexican, and obviously have latin complexion and for me is very easy to tan so I don't really need those kind of products; and the nail polishes, the bright orange was very cute but I'm not a big fan of mac nail polishes (specially because of the price hehe)

MAC TO THE BEACH- the unveiling party

So I was invited to the unveling party for the soon-to-be-at-stores MAC collection: To The Beach, and even when I forgot to bring my camera with me, I took some pictures with my iphone, so I just wanted to share them with you all. For those of you who follow me on twitter, you probaly have seen some of these already but I still wanted to blog about it, lol.

Fui invitada a la fiesta de revelación de la nueva coleccion de MAC: To The Beach, y aun cuando olvidé traer mi camara, tomé fotos con mi iphone y decidí compartirlas con uds. Para las que me siguen en twitter, quiza ya las vieron pero aun por si las dudas, las quería compartir aqui jeje.

So I got to the store like way to early... and the girls at the store ended up letting me in before anyone else, to show me the colours they were wearing on their makeup; and since I already had a wish list, they decided to let me buy the stuff before the event started :D. So that was great! I got to see and swatch the stuff and got my products without having to feel pressured by the crowd, lol

Llegué a la tienda muy temprano... y las chicas de la tienda me dejaron entrar antes que a nadie para mostrarme los productos que traian en su maquillaje; y como yo ya tenia mi lista de productos deseados, decidieron venderme los productos aun antes de que el evento empezara :D tuve la oportunidad de ver y probar el producto sin tener que pelear con la multitud jeje.

They had some snacks and some drinks (soda, orange juice and margaritas) that I surely enjoyed :P and also this little "beach" set up with two "hot shirtless guys!"-SoVeryFabulous, lol.

Tenian sandwiches y bebida (tehuacan, jugo de naranja y margaritas) y claro que lo disfrute jeje; y también tenian un set simulando una playa con unos chicos sin playera ;)

So after I hung out with the girls and when they were getting busy I decided to leave and oh man they were busy.

Despues de haber convivido con las chicas, y en cuanto empezaron a ponerse ocupadas, decidí emprender el camino a casa.

I had a great time and did a lot of damage! hehe, don't forget to check my To the beach haul post to see what I got ;)

Sephora Haul / Compritas en Sephora

Hace unas semanas recibi en mi correo un cupon de descuento en sephora por ser miembro de Sephora VIB, así que bien decidida a usarlo, fui a la tienda tan pronto como pude y porfin me aventuré a comprar mis primeras sombras de Make Up For Ever, también aproveché que en sephora tienen la promoción de compra 3 sombras y llevate la paleta (vacía) gratis así que me fue de maravilla jeje.

A couple of weeks ago I got in my email a discount cupon from sephora for their VIB members, since I hadn't been to sephora for a while I decided to take advantage of the discount and go to the store as soon as posible; finally I decided to buy my first MUFE eye shadows, I also took advantage of the in store offer they have that when you buy 3 (MUFE) eye shadows you can get the empty palette for free, so that, on top of the discount was great :D

I haven't had the chance to play with all of them because the MUFE eye shadows are very vibrant and I can't use them in a every day look but I love the pigmentation and colour pay off, I might buy more, lol. I just wanted to share with you guys ;)

Vasanti tinted lip balm Cancun

Oh Cancun, with your clear blue water and white sand beaches... wait! this is not a post about Cancun the place, but Cancun the tinted lip balm by Vasanti Cosmetics, I guess I just got carried away by the name, since both Cancun the place and the lip balm totally remind me of summer.

Cancun tinted lip balm is very moisturizing and gives a very subtle hint of colour, this is by no means a lipstick because the pigmentation is barely there.

So I was doing some research and reading the Vasanti website and found out that what actually makes this lipbalm so special is the great ingredients and natural sunscreens they are made of such as: Shea Butter, Sun flower oil, Olive oil, mango butter, etc. sounds amazing, doesn't it?

It has a very yummy smell to it, like fruity, it might be the mango butter but I just can't stop smelling it, lol.

Cancun is a sheer peach colour with a bit of pink in it, it is shimmery but not glittery; the perfect go-to lip product for those summer days by the beach (or the lake), however this lipbalm does not have SPF in it, so I strongly recomend wearing some other product with SPF that will protect your lips from sun damage.

The packaging is very pretty, it comes in a matte silver case/tube and says VASANTI all around in a metallic writing, it also features the V (of Vasanti) on the top of the cap.

El gato triste y azul/ a sad blue cat

So I got inspired to do this look because I saw a lady wearing something very similar, and trying to recreate her look this is what I came up with, it is pretty easy and quick, I hope you all enjoy :)

Me inspiré a hacer este look porque se lo vi a una señora hace unos dias, asi que me dedique a tratar de recrearlo y esto me salió, es muy sencillo y rápido de hacer, espero lo disfruten :)

Dreaming of sunny days: China Glaze Solar Power

When I just started buying nailpolish last year, this one was one of the first nail polishes I got, and always wore it during sunny days; it reflects light so beautifly without being a metallic that I always get compliments in my manicure.

China Glaze Solar Power is a canary yellow with same coloured shimmers that reflect lots of light the application was lightly difficult but after 3 coats it was opaque enough to look good and even. This is probably one of those colours that might make you look sick (or wash out your skin tone) if you are very fair but for us medium skin toned and darker, this could be our go-to summer nail colour.

For me, since my feet are very light (lol) I can't pull it off on my toe nails, but I love how it looks on my finger nails.

So here I leave you with another option for those summer colors you might want to look into.

Cuando empecé a comprar barnices o lacas para uñas, el año pasado, este fue uno de los primeros colores que compre, y lo usé casi todos esos dias que fueron soleados y eso porque este barniz refleja muchisima luz sin ser un tono metálico y siempr erecibí cumplidos cuando lo traia puesto.

Solar Power de China Glaze es un amarillo canario con relfejos del mismo color que captan y reflejan bastante luz. La aplicación fue un poco complicada pero después de 3 capas, el color fue suficientemente opaco para verse parejo. Si tu tono de piel es muy claro,este color puede hacerte ver enferma o amarillenta; pero para nosotras las de piel media y más oscura; este podría convertirse en tu color preferido para el verano.

Así que aqui les dejo otra opción de color para el verano.

A Coastal Scents order /Una orden en Coastal Scents

A few of weeks ago I ordered some stuff from Coastal Scents and I was very satisfied (as usual) because they shipped my order the day after I placed the order and then I got it 7 days after that, so that's pretty good for international shipping and even when I didn't get anything very exciting I just wanted to share with you what I got :D

Aqui les traigo las reglas para mi concurso de aniversario de YouTube (este es para mis suscriptores de mi canal de YT, espero poder tener uno exclusivo para mi blog pronto)

El video esta al final de la entrada

1.-Tienes que ser suscriptor de mi canal de YouTube

2.- Tienes que ser mayor de 18 años o tener permiso de tus padres para participar

3.- El concurso se divide en 2 partes: videos y comentarios; puedes entrar ambas partes pero sólo ganar en una

4.- Tendré 2 ganadores para los videos y 2 ganadores para los comentarios.

5.- El concurso empieza el 4 de Mayo del 2010 y termina el 30 de mayo del 2010 a las 11:59pm hora de la ciudad de México

(note: this is just for my Youtube subbies, I'll probably be having a blog giveaway in the near future)

1.- You have to be a subscriber of my youtube channel

2.- You have to be 18 and older or have parental permission to enter this contest

3.- There are 2 parts to this contest: Video and comments, you can enter both but just win one

4.- I will have 2 winners for the Video part of this contest and 2 winners for the comment part

5.- It starts on May the 4th 2010 and ends on May the 30th 2010 at 11:59pm time of Mexico City

6.- The comments have to be posted on the video only, any comments sent to my main YouTube channel do not count

MAC Pret a Papier Haul / compras

Hace poco más de 2 semanas la más reciente colección de MAC, Pret a papier, fue lanzada en EU y Canadá, siendo que ultimamente había comprado muchos colores vibrantes y esta colección es más de colores neutrales, no me la pude perder, después de pasar como una hora en la tienda, probando los productos, decidí comprar lo siguiente.

About 2 weeks ago, the most recent collection from MAC, Pret a Papier, was launched in the USA and Canada; since I had been buying very crazy colours the past couple of weeks, and this collection was all about neutral colours, I couldn't pass on it; so after spending about an hour at the store, this is what I ended up buying:

Over all I'm very happy with my purchase and I don't feel the need to go back to buy more stuff from this collection; I didn't have anything similar to these colours in my collection and I think I can use these products for almost any occasion.

Sexy Ultramarine eyes ft Annabelle Blue Hue and Grafix trios

Lately I was feeling like wearing a very dark navy blue as a main colour on a look, but I wasn't able to find the right shade, then while playing with these Annabelle eye shadow trios that were sent to me I found the perfect navy blue eye look to go clubbing (or on a date or to a bar, well you get the idea right?, lol) so I just wanted to share these pictures and the video tutorial of course :)

Recientemente habia querido crear un look super oscuro, usando azul marino como color principal, pero no habia podido encontrar el tono perfecto, hace poco estaba jugando con estos trios de Anabelle que me fueron enviados y encontre la forma de conseguir el look perfecto para ir al antro (o al bar o a la disco o a una cita, bueno si me entienden no?) así que decidí compartir estas fotos del look con ustedes y por supuesto el tutorial en video :)

Blue hue day look ft. Annabelle cosmetics

Cuando se tienen colores tan pigmentados es dificil usarlos en un look para el día sin lucir como una obra de arte jeje, pero al final me salió este look que me gustó mucho y lo quice compartir con uds. fue un look solicitado por PatyMtz21 en youtube, así que aqui se los dejo.

Annabelle eye shadow trio Blue Hue/Grafix review

Anabelle cosmetics has always been a favorite of mine when it comes to drugstore makeup; their eye shadows have great quality and most of the time the color payoff is great. This time I was send 2 eye shadow trios from Annabelle, they are new and permanent as far as I know; they recently became avaliable to the public just a couple of months ago.

The pigmentation is really nice for both of them, the packaging is very convenient since you get 3 colours in one pot, and these trios (just like the rest of the trios in their line) are colour coordinated, so you know that you can wear them together without a problem, however, you can always combine them with any other colors you might have in your stash.

Blue Hue, with 3 different shades of blue all well pigmented and lightly shimmery but not glittery; I found the lightest colour feels a little bit powdery but not enought to have fall out while using it. It features a beautyful royal blue, a tuquoise blue and a very light baby blue. click here to see a Day look using this trio

Grafix, this is the perfect trio for a classic smokey eye look; the eye shadows are well pigmented and shimmery, and this time the black one does have a bit of micro glitter (at least that's how it seems to me) but nothign that would make your eyes look like a disco ball. Here I found the white colour to be a bit powdery (which always seem to be a problem with white e/s), however, all of all the white eye shadows I have this was the less powdery and didn't experince any fall out. La marca Annabelle cosmetics siempre ha sido una de mis marcas favoritas de maquillaje económico; las sombras de ojos tienen excelente calidad y en su mayor parte muy buena pigmentación. Esta vez recibí 2 trios de sombras de Annabelle que son nuevos y permanentes; apenas salieron un par de meses atrás a la venta al público.

La pigmentación es muy buena en ambos trios, el empaque es conveniente porque obtienes 3 colores en un solo empaque; estos trios, al igual que todos los de la marca, tienen colores coordinados, por lo que siempre sabrás que puedes usar todos los colores del trio en un mismo look, y también combinarlos con otros colores en tu colección.

Blue Hue. Con 3 diferentes tonos de azul un poco brillosos y sin glitter; encontré que el azul más claro es un poco polvoso pero no tanto como para provocar que el producto se caiga del pincel. Grafix. Este es el trio perfecto para un ojo ahumado clásico, todas las sombras estan muy bien pigmentadas y tienen un poco brillo, y esta vez, el negro presenta un poco de micro glitter (o diamantina). Aquí encontre que el blanco es un poco polvoso, sin embargo no tuve caida del producto en la cara cuando lo estaba usando; y el negro me costo un poco más de trabajo para difuminar (nada exagerado) pero para mi esto fue porque esta muy pigmentado.
